1. Blue Spring State Park

From November to March, Blue Spring transforms into a haven for manatees that seeking warmth in the spring’s waters during the colder months. In the warmer months, the park is a region of various outdoor activities.

 Swimming is one of its most popular activities, the water is clear and it allows for excellent visibility and with shallow areas for wading and deeper sections for more experienced swimmers.

• Camping at Blue Spring State Park is a great way to have a wonderful and unforgettable experience by observing the natural beauty and diverse activities the park has to offer. The park features 51 campsites set amidst a scrub oak and palmetto forest, suitable for both tents and RVs. Your pets are welcome in designated areas of the campgrounds, making it a family friendly option.  

For a more comfortable experience, six cabins are available for rent, providing amenities such as fireplace for chilly nights and outdoor grill areas for cookouts.

2. Myakka River State Park

Myakka River State Park is one of Florida’s oldest and largest state parks, encompassing nearly 58 square miles of wetlands, prairies, hammocks and pinelands. Located just a short drive from Sarasota, this park offers visitors a chance to experience a wide range of outdoor activities while immersing themselves in the natural beauty and ecological richness of Florida. History of Myakka River State Park

The park’s creation dates back to the 1930s when the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) was tasked with developing it as a part of President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s New deal program. The CCC built the roads, pavilions and the first structures that helped shape the park into what it is today. With over 80 years of history, the park preserves not only natural beauty but also a piece of Florida’s cultural heritage.

Myakka River State Park is famous for its incredible biodiversity.  The Myakka River itself flows through 66 miles of wilderness, supporting a wide range of wildlife. The river is designated as a Florida Wild and Scenic River, one of only two in the state to hold this title, which highlights its ecological importance.

1. Camping: The park includes three campgrounds offering 90 campsites, each outfitted with 50-amp electric service, water, a fire ring and a picnic table. Palmetto Ridge sites also provide sewer connections. A dump station is conveniently located by Old Prairie Campground. Campers have access to laundry facilities in both Old Prairie and Palmetto Ridge, and all these sites are within 40 yards of restrooms with hot showers.

2. Wildlife Watching: Spot alligators, deers and over 100 bird species in their natural habitats along the riverbanks and trails.

3. Silver Springs State Park

Honeymoon Island State Park

Honeymoon Island State Park, located on Florida’s stunning Gulf Coast, is not only a paradise for nature lovers but also a place with a unique history. Originally named Hog Island, this tranquil spot was rebranded in the late 1930s when a New York developer envisioned it as a romantic gateway for newlyweds.
